Jim's tactical and technical skills help clients overcome unpredictable challenges.

Jim represents clients in toxic torts, construction disputes, and product liability claims including aviation matters.  He has handled several insurance coverage matters testing the extent insurance carriers are responsible for potentially available insurance.  Jim defends claims for property damage, deaths and injuries from aircraft crashes and motor vehicles.

  • Successfully represented insurance company in claim for coverage for punitive damages, establishing Ohio law.
  • Defend construction accidents, allegations of improper design/layout, improper actions by contractors or subcontractors, failure to properly maintain floors, sidewalks, steps, and escalators.
  • Represent insurance companies in coverage disputes over duty to defend and duty to indemnify, particularly concerning pollution exclusions.
  • Defended turnpike commission in accident at a turnpike interchange, with complaints of improper initial construction and design, plus inadequate signage.
  • Defend matters relating to design and manufacture of products, automobiles, appliances, construction materials, and equipment, including injury from exposure to toxic chemicals, liquids, and products.
  • Defended claim of improperly treated wood utility poles involving millions of dollars of property damage alleged by a city. 
  • Represent companies in toxic tort class actions, including an asbestos mining company, a boiler manufacturer, and insulation and packing materials company. 
  • Represent dentists in malpractice claims.
